Welcome to the New York NightSeeing Map Database Registration Site

As part of the IESNY Centennial program we are delighted to announce that the Illuminating Engineering Society of New York is partnering with Parsons School of Design, Department of Architecture, Interior and Lighting Design, to produce a fold-out NightSeeing Map , which will showcase exemplary civic design projects in New York. This map will be an illuminated “walking tour”, with planned distribution to the general public through press and tourist bureaus.

Conceptualized by lighting designer Leni Schwendinger and urban designer Brian McGrath, the map will offer a glimpse into the cultural stories, legacies and idiosyncrasies of the nocturnal New York cityscape through its illumination. Three types of public projects will be depicted:

We are requesting submissions for the Existing and Pending projects categories from designers worldwide to select public illumination projects for publication in the New York NightSeeing Map . Project submissions can be made below from 1st July 2006 until 15th September 2006.

Please note that this is not an award process for the best lighting project. It will be subject to the Jury to select projects that fit with the overall NightSeeing Map concept, publication and tour guide.

This site will guide you through the process of submitting one or more projects for New York NightSeeing Map Registry. The site will allow you to save your work as you progress, allowing you to return as often as you like to complete your submissions. Once you are satisfied with your work, you’ll be able to submit all of your projects at once.
