Monday, May 04, 2009 Cooper Union Feltman Spring 2009 Lecture Series

Please join two upcoming lectures in May: the first on Monday 4 May by Chris Allen, Creative Director of The Light Surgeons and the second on Monday 11 May by Charles Stone, President of Fisher Marantz Stone.

Both lectures will be held at The Cooper Union and are part of the Feltman Spring 2009 Lecture Series “Night Vision.”  Please find details below.

CHRIS ALLEN: THE LIGHT SURGEONS
“True Fictions and Other Stories” In conversation with Kathleen Forde, (EMPAC)

The Light Surgeons is a collective of pioneering multimedia artists founded in 1995 by creative director Christopher Thomas Allen. TLS functions as an experimental production company which seeks to develop new forms of audio-visual experiments outside the established art and design institutions. TLS’ work spans many diverse mediums: print, photography, motion graphics, digital film production, exhibitions, installations and ground breaking live audio visual performances.




CHARLES STONE
“Light is the Messenger”

Charles Stone is the President of Fisher Marantz Stone. Since 1971, the firm has created effective, innovative, and economical lighting solutions for over 3500 projects around the world. FMS also actively incorporates sustainable design strategies in all their projects. Charles Stone received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University with a Certificate from the Program in Theater and Dance for Lighting Design. His experience encompasses architectural and theatrical projects including concert halls, airports, convention centers, museums, hotels, theme parks, corporate headquarters, commercial developments, and residences. He has designed award-winning projects such as Carnegie Hall, the Washington Monument, Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City, and the new Hong Kong Airport. Stone is Lighting Certified by the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions as well as a LEED Accredited Professional. He is a frequent lecturer at university programs and professional conferences around the world. He is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society, the Professional Lighting Designers Association and was President of the International Association of Lighting Designers from 2004-2005.
