2005 IESNY Student Design Competition Winners
mmm

The IESNY is Pleased to Announce the Winners

For our Fifth year, all New York City Design Students where invited by the New York Section of the IESNA to participate in a citywide design competition on the study of light and shadow on March 15th at the Center for Architecture. 27 NYC student entries where submitted representing Parson School of Design, FIT, and Pratt. Four winners where selected.

With the generous support of Professional Lighting Design Magazine , ELDA , Osram/Sylvania , Louis Poulsen Lighting , Lutron Electronics and Enterprise Lighting Sales , and contributions from Con Edison and Nulux , the IESNY Student Grant Competition allowed students to explore light as an art form, demonstrate light as a stimulus, and prove light is a valuable medium.

The objective of this years design challenge was to develop a three-dimensional study of light, inspired by the relationship between shadows over time.  The entry guidelines where the submission could be made of any material, must include an electric light source, and must be transportable in a cab.

This panel of judges where:

  • Patricia DiMaggio of Osram Sylvania Products
  • Philip Metternich of Brandston Partnership
  • Phil Cialdella of Poulsen Lighting Inc.
